Some old woman in me has been removing my shoes and rubbing sagebrush  between my hands for about a decade now. She's been gently showing me the way of things, the way of a life devoted to a place. She recommends the books I borrow from the library, the foods I eat from the riverside, the songs I sing when I've got nothing but fears zipping my lips together. She's the one who knows that to live is to love well.

This old woman comes from the time before time, when everything went back to the garden and satisfactions were small and simple. She is who I hear when my eyes ache of computer screen, when I lose touch of sensation, when I forget the enormity of Beauty. She tells of real freedom, guiding me to do what I do and care for what I care for.

To the Old Woman, I am of grateful service.

The realm of natural health and this real freedom has me by the scruff, gladly so. I study the medicine of plants, in their nutrition and in their spirit, in their presentation and their role in the web of life. I am currently enrolled in Wild Rose College, studying to become a credentialed clinical herbalist. Learning is the path, as well as sharing all that awes me with those as interested in the old ways as I am.
